Dad's Visit!

Dad came to visit me as a present to us both. He was here for a week and within that time he learned his most important phrase: cafe con leche (coffee with milk). He also learned how to say his favorite train stop: Alonso Martinez.

Here is a general overview of places we went.

His first day here we took him out for tapas in La Latina

Dad got really into updating his facebook from his iPad. So if you are his facebook friend, you should check out some of his posts.

A true introduction to Spain. Beer taps in the shape of ham legs.

The Christmas tree at Puerta del Sol

Inside of the Christmas Tree, I don't think Tyra Banks would approve of this camera angle.

Dinner at El Neru, an Astrurian restaurant. Someone broke a bottle, but it wasn't us.

Friends from all over eating at El Neru. Dad, Me, Sarah (my friend from Madrid), Jason (Sarah's friend from Seattle), Kath (my friend from college), and Sarah (my friend from Madrid)

Sarah, Jason, Dad and Me at Mercado de San Miguel

A morning visit to El Rastro, Madrid's weekly flea market

Puerta de Toledo

Guernica, one of Dad's must sees. Unfortunately he wasn't supposed to take a photo, so he got scolded.

Dad at Starbuck's after going to the Reina Sofia. We went to at least 5 starbucks because it's hard to find a place in Spain to sit down for a long time and enjoy a coffee in a smoke free environment.

Outdoor coffee in December! Wouldn't happen in Chicago.
Dad really liked the Christmas lights. As the resident Jew in our home he knows the most Christmas Carols and always has the most Christmas spirit.
Tree photo op?
Head in the clouds
Home again, home again!

Overall it was a wonderful visit, and definitely too short. We did a lot of walking, eating, drinking, and of course resting because it was a vacation.
